Winning venture offers a bold AI-powered solution to the administrative overload plaguing healthcare systems

Crystal City, VA – In a high-energy finale to the 2025 Ńîąóĺú´«Ă˝Ň•îl National Convention, the American Medical Student Association launched a new tradition: the first-ever Ńîąóĺú´«Ă˝Ň•îl Innovation Fest, a national pitch competition spotlighting medical students leading transformational change in healthcare. From a powerful lineup of student-led ventures tackling urgent problems—health literacy, diagnostic access, research equity, and more—Eden, a smart automation platform founded by Naomi Rajput, a pre-medical student at Northeastern University, was named the inaugural winner.

Eden streamlines the healthcare system’s most burdensome back-office workflows—automating scheduling, insurance verification, billing, and medical record management. The platform has already demonstrated a 50% reduction in call volume and a fivefold gain in check-in efficiency. With integration across more than 1,000 insurers, Eden aims to reduce clinician burnout, improve patient experience, and restore time for what matters most: care.

“I built Eden because I saw firsthand how administrative chaos erodes both care quality and clinician wellbeing,” said Naomi Rajput, founder of Eden. “We’re proving that technology—when designed thoughtfully—can restore the human side of healthcare. Winning this competition gives us more than recognition; it gives us momentum to keep building.”

“People are multifaceted – so are physicians and entrepreneurship flows as easily from us as learning the Krebs cycle.”

What the Next Generation of Physicians Is Solving: Themes from Innovation Fest 2025

The revealed clear patterns in what future doctors are building—and what they’re determined to fix. Five major themes emerged:

Breaking Barriers to Access

  • decodehealth (Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine): A multilingual AI chatbot and medical library supporting chronic illness management in underserved populations.
  • TurmerikAI Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania): An AI-based tool to expand equity in clinical trial recruitment and participation.

Rebuilding Administrative Infrastructure

  • Eden (Northeastern) – Winner: Automates key operational workflows across health systems, cutting friction, errors, and staff fatigue.

Advancing Equitable Diagnostics

  • Wireless ECG pad (Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine): A wire-free, AI-powered ECG that improves cardiac care in low-resource environments.
  • EzMTX Assay (University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson): A portable diagnostic supporting safe delivery of high-dose methotrexate in pediatric oncology, especially where labs are limited.

Confronting Cognitive Health Gaps

  • Mobile Memory (Yale School of Medicine): An AI/ML screening tool for Alzheimer’s detection using natural language processing in a 30-second interaction.

Humanizing Technology

Across all ventures, students embedded equity, empathy, and usability into their designs—meeting patients where they are, across languages, abilities, and life stages.

“For 75 years, Ńîąóĺú´«Ă˝Ň•îl has been a force for health equity, universal care, and bold reform,” said Jennifer Salehi, Executive Director of Ńîąóĺú´«Ă˝Ň•îl. “With Innovation Fest, we’re expanding that legacy—making space for invention as well as advocacy. Today’s medical students are designing the future of healthcare. It’s our job to support and amplify their ideas, especially those that harness digital tools to dismantle structural barriers to care.”

Championing & supporting the next wave of digital health innovators

Building on its mission to prepare future physicians to lead change, the American Medical Student Association (Ńîąóĺú´«Ă˝Ň•îl) is launching its first-ever Digital Innovation Festival (InnoFest) on April 18 in Washington, DC, at the AMSA Annual Convention. This competition highlights medical students developing groundbreaking digital health solutions to tackle today’s most pressing healthcare challenges: specifically, those solutions that drive health equity forward.

InnoFest is a student launchpad: providing a national platform, networks, and support to help aspiring physician-innovators bring their ideas to life and advance their careers as digital health changemakers.

“At AMSA, we believe that preparing future physicians to lead change means equipping them with the resources to turn ideas into impact,” said Jennifer Salehi, Executive Director of Ńîąóĺú´«Ă˝Ň•îl. “InnoFest is a reflection of that mission. These students are not only innovating in digital health—they’re building solutions that advance equity, ensuring a future where all people have access to healthcare.”

After reviewing applications from student teams around the country and globe, a selection of semifinalists were invited to a competitive lightning pitch round in February to a panel of healthcare, technology and venture capital experts. The judges have now selected eight standout teams to advance to the InnoFest finals in Washington, DC. Their innovations—ranging from AI-driven diagnostics to wearable medical devices—are designed to make healthcare more accessible, efficient, and equitable.

Technology belongs in the hands of those who understand patient care best,” said Dr. Shuhan He, physician at Massachusetts General Hospital Institute for Health Data Analytics, faculty at Harvard Medical School, and Ńîąóĺú´«Ă˝Ň•îl’s InnoFest Advisor. “With Ńîąóĺú´«Ă˝Ň•îl’s Innovation Festival, we’re witnessing a national sample of the incredible talent and creativity from emerging physician leaders. This is how we bridge the gap between possibility and real-world impact.”

The InnoFest Judges

A distinguished panel of physician-innovators, entrepreneurs, and investors has been deeply involved in this journey—reviewing applications, witnessing lightning pitches, and providing mentorship. Now, they will take on the final role of evaluating the finalists.

  • Dr. Shuhan He – Physician, Mass General Hospital Institute for Health Data Analytics; Faculty, Harvard Medical School; Entrepreneur & Celebrated Innovator (InnoFest Advisor)
  • Dr. Jason Reminick – CEO & Founder, Thalamus; Physician Entrepreneur (InnoFest Judge)
  • Chris Martinez – Investor; Lead, BK/XL Accelerator, powered by the Joe and Clara Tsai Foundation’s Social Justice Fund (InnoFest Judge)
